A special event with South Sudan's TEU School of Law

A special event with South Sudan's TEU School of Law

The Australian Christian Legal Society warmly invites you to a special webinar in support of The Episcopal University (TEU) School of Law in South Sudan. Join us for an engaging information session featuring Dean Justice James Alala Deng, Vice-Chancellor Dr Eeva John, and David Innocent a current law student from TEU, who will share firsthand about the challenges and needs of the law school.

The Q&A will be moderated by Stella Loong, CEO of the Australian Christian Legal Society (ACLS).

Why are we fundraising?

🌍 Together, we can equip South Sudan’s future lawyers.

ACLS is partnering with Anglican Aid to support The Episcopal University (TEU) School of Law in Juba, South Sudan. Help us to reach our target of $10,000 by 31 October 2025 to support TEU to grow the School of Law and establish a law library.

South Sudan is the world's youngest nation, gaining sovereignty from Sudan in 2011. However, decades of war have meant that South Sudan continues to be a fragile country with high levels of poverty, crime, and tribal tensions which erupt regularly. The cycle of poverty is perpetuated by corruption and mismanagement of the country's rich resources, meaning access to education at all levels is both a challenging and urgent need for the country.

TEU grew from a desire of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) to strengthen governance in the church and in South Sudan. As of July 2025, there are only two other law schools in South Sudan. The School of Law seeks to develop a generation of lawyers with a strong ethical base, helping South Sudan move towards stability, peace, and prosperity. Operating alongside and together with the Bishop Gwynne School of Theology, the School of Law also offers opportunities for students to grow in their understanding of vocation and their discipleship as Christians.

There is currently no government funding for higher education in South Sudan. By contributing to this fundraiser, you will be helping to provide much-needed student bursaries, teaching equipment, library resources, and staff salaries for the School of Law.

Together, we can support TEU to train lawyers who will go on to strengthen and transform their nation!
